I absolutely love gardening! Putting seeds and plants in the ground is my favorite time of year, but shhhh… don’t tell anyone, I do NOT have a green thumb! Those seeds and plants never sprout too much of anything (insert tears). I guess I garden as a de-stressor and I’d like to think that when I put those seeds in the ground that maybe, just maybe, they will sprout! A few years ago, my seasons of wishful thinking turned into actual joy when I found out how easy it was to do indoor gardening – no green thumb required! So, if you are like me and like to garden but don’t have much outdoor success with it, there are so many great ways to garden indoors using scraps of food (yes, food does grow from food) and seeds.
The ideas on the links below are so simple and such a fun way to grow plants in your classroom. Your children will love watching these plants grow. When you use these ideas don’t forget to take pictures, have the children measure the plants’ growth, and create a “plant helper” job on your classroom’s job chart!
